About Us

The new, made-in-Canada, genre publication for short fiction, comics, & commentary

Tome & Space is a new digital magazine and hub for genre short stories, comics, and genre-themed commentary pieces (about life, gaming, tabletop, tv, and movies). We are primarily looking to publish stories and comics under the big umbrella of the fantasy and sci-fi genres, but open to submissions in horror, mystery, and historical fiction, particularly if they have an element of SFF and a strong hook. For commentary we are looking for fun and insightful analysis of storytelling in different formats, SFF history, and culture.

We are publishing two issues plus some online-only features in 2026, and expecting to publish quarterly in 2027.

Our editorial team has a diverse set of professional backgrounds and are aiming to represent the modern SFF reader—a bit distracted by work, school, endless notifications, and looming robot overlords, but enriched by the big ideas, themes, and sense of community that these genres deliver.

We are passionate about growing the market for short fiction and comics and believe they are the perfect format to connect this amazing generation of SFF creators with a mix of dedicated fans and newcomers looking to connect with authentically human art in a format that fits their busy schedule.

Thank you for reading, we really appreciate it.
